Papillio’s® traditions are synonymous with those of Birkenstock® and rest on more than 230 years of shoemaking and orthopaedic craftsmanship.
In shoe production that means putting nature’s requirements first – our shoes encourage and support the foot’s natural functions.
The Papillio® brand emerged in 1991 from the “Boutique” line of Birkenstock® Orthopädie GmbH & Co. KG. That year, our first collection was showcased at various trade fairs both at home and abroad and quickly became a firm favourite with speciality shoe stores.
Since 1 October 2004 the brand Papillio® has been a limited liability company and therefore an independent legal and financial entity. Our close ties to Birkenstock® continue to this day, however, with both companies benefiting from the close cooperation – in technology transfer, logistics and shared use of facilities.
